Today lawmakers on the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing regarding the HB481 bill at the State House. The House bill is to legalize cannabis for recreational use by adults in New Hampshire.

Many agencies attended to testify to legislators, while our own MIH empowerYouth! student Quincy Roy, and sophomore at Memorial High School in Manchester, came to testify against HB481. Quincy bravely provided the legislators with her perspective on why marijuana is harmful to youth based on her first-hand experience of seeing a friend go down the wrong path. Many others came to testify along with Roy including medical and public health professionals, representatives of the N.H. Chiefs of Police and State Police, and the chairman of the legislative committee.

The outcome of the vote in the senate remains unknown for now. To read more about the hearing and Quincy Roy’s testimony go to this link.
