The Makin’ It Happen team will be on our annual Mid-Year Break the week of July 4th through July 11th. Makin’ It Happen believes that taking a collective break is important for the wellbeing of our staff. A collective break offers our team the opportunity to take a break together so they can feel refreshed and be able to reconnect without feeling disconnected from our work.

According to Forbes 52% of Americans do not use their earned time. The pressure of the workplace can be intense, so it is critical for both the physical and mental health of employees to create opportunities for breaks from work.

We are a small team that accomplishes a lot together. Self-care has to be at the forefront of what we do in order to be the best at what we do.

Self-care is critical to EVERYONE’S mental and physical health because it reduces stress and increases overall wellbeing. Here are some examples of self-care that may work for you:

  • Cross something off your to-do list
  • Exercise
  • Get a massage
  • Go for a walk
  • Listen to music or a podcast
  • Make art
  • Meditation

Next week we will be on our break taking time with our families away from our screens enjoying the beautiful summer weather, ice cream, sandy shoes, and just taking some deep breaths.
