Sunday was the first day of 10-digit dialing in the 603-area code. All callers will now need to make sure to add 603 when dialing in the state. This is in order to prepare for Na crisis phone/text/chat line that anyone can contact at any time for support with emotional distress.

Starting in July 2022, the new 3-digit number 9-8-8 will replace the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and will expand services so that New Hampshire residents can call/text/chat for support with mental health, substance use, or thoughts of suicide.

New Hampshire Residents need to update their contact list to include the 603 area code. There are some numbers that are not affected. Residents will also continue to be able to dial 911 directly in case of an emergency.
