The latest thing to be watching for? Students using toothpicks!
They are called “Nic Picks” and they are nicotine infused toothpicks, and are a smaller and harder to detect way for youth to be using nicotine. These small toothpicks claim to have as much nicotine as three cigarettes and have a buzz that can last up to 45 minutes. They were originally on the market as a Nicotine Replacement Product used by adults trying to quit smoking. However, they are accessible online and several stores in New Hampshire making it easy for them to get in the wrong hands.
So be sure to keep an eye out as student’s are using these throughout the school day.
