Makin’ It Happen and Amoskeag Health’s Wellness on Wheels partnered with the Manchester Police Departments National Night Out event held on August 1st, 2023. National Night Out is a “National community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships”, (NATW) happening annually on the first Tuesday of August. New Hampshire has 37 participating cities. The event aims to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement.
This year, Manchester’s NNO was organized by Officer Breton of MPD. 55 community partners were in participation, including the NH Army National Guard helicopter, Chaos & Kindness, as well as the Manchester Wellness on Wheels participants.
The event lasted from 5-8 PM, with K9 demonstrations, soccer games from Seacoast United Soccer, music from Rock 101, special activities with Chaos & Kindness, and the landing of the Black Hawk Helicopter.
Wellness on Wheels partners were able to connect with more community partners through NNO, as well as reach more community members through the event. Senator Maggie Hassan and Mayor Joyce Craig were also in attendance, as well as U.S. Attorney Jane E. Young.
