Makin’ It Happen attended the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce “State of the City” breakfast this morning where Mayor Joyce Craig addressed the chamber members and took audience questions. Mayor Craig spoke to the challenges of substance misuse, the great strides to pull partners together to make change and the priorities for the future. Mayor Craig discussed many of the social determinants of health including transportation, housing, poverty and education. Through the closing of Serenity Place and the rebuild of the Safe Stations program we have worked first hand with Mayor Craig in bringing together many partner organizations to quickly bridge gaps in care for community members during an incredibly vulnerable time. We look forward to continued partnership including the long-term, sustainable and evidence-based planning happening through the newly formed Mayor’s Council on Prevention, Treatment and Recovery. Thank you to the chamber for holding such a meaningful event and to Mike Skelton for doing a wonderful job synthesizing all those audience questions and getting to some great topic areas with Mayor Craig.
