May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Here at Makin’ It Happen, every month is about mental health awareness, but nonetheless…. We are taking this opportunity to challenge YOU!

We challenge you to do at least one thing to support your mental health every day this month. Make it a habit.

Here are 5 ways you can kick off prioritizing your wellness and mental health:

  1. Go on a walk during your lunch break. Being surrounded by nature has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety and improve well-being and focus.
  2. Listen to your favorite song while you get ready for the day. Listening to music can lower your blood pressure, reduce cortisol levels, and lower your heart rate.
  3. Protect your mental space, set boundaries. Try not to let stress add up. Set boundaries to maintain work-life balance and take breaks from social media when you can!
  4. Stay socially and emotionally connected. Wellness isn’t just physical. Prioritize spending time with friends, family, or your community.
  5. Set a strict bedtime! Aim for a consistent bedtime and wake-up schedule, even on weekends. Good sleep hygiene can significantly improve energy, mood, and focus.

Remember, these are just some starters. Find what makes your mental health flourish. You are not alone.
