Anne Bonner (Marketing and Communications Lead), Emily Tyler (Community Impact Coordinator), and Jordan Havens (Resiliency Essentials Coordinator) traveled south this past week for CADCA’s 25th Annual Mid-Year Training Institute! Attending 13 individual workshops and training sessions throughout the week, our team is excited to be back in New Hampshire and share the inspiration, knowledge, and evidence-based practices they took away.

Here’s what Anne, Emily, and Jordan had to say about the experience…

“While I wasn’t sure what to expect, the sheer number of people in attendance was jaw-dropping. I was surrounded by prevention professionals and youth from all across the country! Throughout the numerous workshops I attended, youth actively participated and shared their experiences in the “Adult Sessions”. It was inspiring to see their perspectives shape the conversations, putting a much-needed emphasis on the importance of youth involvement. Prevention starts with youth!

I am lucky to work with young people who care about prevention and health through The Makin’ It Happen Podcast: Life of a Teen back home. Hearing their thoughts, feelings, and stories is always inspiring, and this conference reinforced just how important it is to continue creating spaces where youth can speak up and be heard. “I’m so grateful that I was able to attend this year’s CADCA Mid-Year Conference. Every session I went to was engaging, inspiring, and full of ideas that I can bring back to my work. I really enjoyed hearing different perspectives, learning about the creative ways organizations are addressing challenges in their communities, and meeting with fellow professionals who are passionate about prevention! I left feeling energized, motivated, and excited to bring new ideas back to Makin’ It Happen!”

-Emily

“I was so excited to attend the CADCA Mid-Year Conference was a valuable and motivating experience. The conference provided me with an opportunity to learn about innovative prevention strategies and to hear from experienced leaders in the field. I came back feeling inspired and motivated with new ideas that I am excited to bring back and explore within Makin’ It Happen. The sessions helped to reinforce the importance of working within our community and using evidence-based practices. I look forward to applying what I learned to strengthen our prevention efforts.”
