On September 1, 2023, Makin’ It Happen’s Resiliency Essentials Team, Kayte, Janelle, and Jane kicked off our Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings for the staff of the Boys and Girls Club of Manchester. Youth Mental Health First Aid aims to teach individuals that have an impact in youths’ lives how to help adolescents ages 12-18 who may be experiencing challenges in mental health and/or substance use.

Kayte, Janelle, and Jane note their highlights included the willingness and openness of the Boys and Girls Club staff, the vulnerability in conversation and the sharing of lived experiences, and the positive impact staff felt this training will have in the future.

Here at Makin’ It Happen, part of our mission is promoting behaviors that measurably improve the overall well-being of youth, which includes a robust focus mental health. Providing training for Youth Mental Health First Aid facilitates awareness and a safer environment for our youth to be able to flourish. We look forward to future trainings and the profound effects it will carry in our community.
