On the final day of #NationalPreventionWeek the theme is Celebrating Prevention Heroes. There are so many prevention heroes throughout the Greater Manchester Region. When we think of heroes members of our six sectors come to mind including Government, Community and Family Supports, Education, Safety and Law Enforcement, Health and Medical, and Business. We are so grateful for all of these #PreventionHeros! Check out our video which highlights some of the work happening here in the Greater Manchester region! Link in bio.

Today’s #NationalPreventionWeek theme is Prevention is Everywhere: Highlighting Efforts Across Settings and Communities. One great example of this is our colleagues on @AmoskeagHealth that offer the ACERT team to the community. ACERT stands for Adverse Childhood Experiences Response Team (ACERT). This team responds to incidents where children have experienced violence. The team is made up of a police officer, a crisis services advocate, and a behavioral health professional. The team has been trained to respond to incidents as soon as the scenes have been secured by the police. The team will assess the situation and determine the next steps that could be taken for the child such as support groups, mental health counseling, early childhood education, or child-parent psychotherapy. They are a great example of prevention being everywhere. To learn more about this effort visit http://ow.ly/O9lj50J4kNU
