We are in the middle of National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week put on by the National Institute on Drug Abuse! We talked to our students in the Greater Manchester Region about what they see as the most prevalent problem in their schools, and an overwhelming 85% said Vaping. Let's #MakeItHappen and decrease vaping in our youth!

Makin' It Happen wishes you a happy St. Patricks day! Celebrate responsibly with these tips.
☘️ Create a plan for getting home safely before you go out! Manchester Taxi (call 603.622.0008 or book online) and Uber (download the app) are excellent services.
☘️ Be sure to eat before going out. Having a full stomach metabolizes alcohol faster, whereas drinking on an empty stomach creates alcohol to be absorbed into your bloodstream much quicker.
☘️ Stay hydrated! Alcohol is a diuretic that dehydrates you faster than any other liquid. Avoid sickness with lots of water!
☘️ Watch your drink. Avoid unwanted substances in your glass by covering it and not leaving it unattended.
☘️ Be aware of drunk drivers on the road. Watch for swerving, drifting, tailgating, and sudden stops or delayed actions. If you see this, report it to the authorities.
☘️ Maintain situational awareness in bars and restaurants. Look for exits and keep an eye out for suspicious activity.

What did you do this past Valentines Day? Youth from the Greater Manchester Region partnered with CADCA, Making' It Happen, and DEA Operation Engage at MPAL for a Youth Leadership Training! 💗 What better way to celebrate LOVE than to work with fellow students on creating a safer community?! Here at Makin' It Happen, we can't think of any greater love than the love for our community. ✨ Don't let these photos fool you, it was an event filled with way more than fun and games! Students developed critical thinking skills to create civic action in their communities. We're so proud of these cohorts and excited to see what they do next! 🤩

Sound like something you're interested in learning more about? Visit the linktree in our bio to access our blog on the training.

Thank you @stacyharrisonfreelance for taking photos from our event! 📸

Happy International Women's Day! Did you know Makin' It Happen's team is made up of 80% women? 👏🏼 One mission of International Women's Day is to "forge inclusive work cultures where women's careers thrive and their achievements are celebrated".👩‍💻 59% of women face harassment and/or microaggression in the workplace. In 100 countries, women still face laws that restrict the type of work they can do. And globally, women are earning 60%-75% of mens wages. There is still work to be done!
Creating gender equity feels like a big task, but pushing for change is the only way to move forward. Educate yourself and others on gender equity through relevant articles, books, and podcasts. 📚 Reflect on the culture of inclusivity and equality in your workplace, school, family and friends. Push for change, and celebrate the wins! Use International Women's Day to create lasting change. 📆 For more information on how to support locally, check out NH Women's Foundation. @nhwomensfoundation

This past week was #NationalEatingDisorderAwarenessWeek sponsored by @NEDA. 💙💚 Eating Disorders are characterized as mental illnesses and are often part of a dual diagnosis. 📋 Educating ourselves on this hot topic and other addictions that affect so many of us is essential to the public health of our community. 🏥 With this knowledge, we hope to create resilient communities adept at providing prevention strategies and supporting our peers. 🤝 Did you learn anything new this #NEDAWeek ? Share your knowledge in the comments and help educate others! ✨
