Last month, Makin’ It Happen team members, Tracy and Janelle had the opportunity to attend The Expo 2024 hosted by the Girl Scouts of Green and White Mountains. We were able to connect with many girl scouts and their families during our activity, “Language Matters,” teaching the importance of shifting the way we speak to reduce stigmas! This induced insightful conversations and meaningful conversations feedback from all who participated.
Though “Language Matters” was successful in initiative, it also helped to prepare the Girl Scouts who took part for their Mental Wellness Patch! The Mental Wellness Patch Program is described by the Girl Scouts USA organization as a reminder that “you’re never alone in facing challenges and further invites you to dive into and understand your emotions. You can do this by participating in activities, such as making art or writing poetry, that foster resilience and help you to better understand your world. No matter the season, never doubt your ability to rise up, and remember—you got this.”
We are grateful to have made an impact on so many Girl Scouts’ journeys and are ecstatic about their commitment to their mental health! We hope to collaborate in the future to further the priority of mental well-being within our youth and continue to Educate, Engage, and Empower. Thank you Girl Scouts of Green and White Mountains!
