Janelle Havens, Recovery Ready Communities Director; Emma Scott, Community Impact in the 603 Manager; and Emily Tyler, Community Impact in the 603 Program Coordinator, all attended the National Prevention Network (NPN) Conference this past week in Washington, D.C. The NPN Conference hosts federal, state, and local professionals from the substance use prevention field and related disciplines (NPNConference.org). This conference highlights the most recent and innovative research in the substance use prevention field, integrating it into prevention practice. Hosted by the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Agency Directors, this opportunity could not be missed! Emily Tyler, experiencing NPN for the first time said that “it was very impactful to hear from members of the prevention community and bring their insights back to our team at Makin’ It Happen!”
At the NPN Conference, Janelle Havens presented to a room full of prevention specialists from across the United States on Manchester’s Anti-Stigma Initiative. Emma Scott, who attended Janelle’s presentation, stated, “This was one of my favorite sessions at the NPN Conference! Janelle spoke about the Anti-Stigma initiative, and I learned different ways we, as community members, can limit stigma around substance use, homelessness, mental health, and more. I am excited to hear more about the Anti-Stigma work in Manchester!” To learn more about Makin’ It Happen’s Anti-Stigma Initiative, please visit our Recovery Ready page on our website!
