Anti-Stigma: enCompass Training

On Monday, May 19th, our Recovery Ready Communities Director facilitated the first enCompass training. This training is part of the Makin’ It Happen Anti-Stigma Initiative and is one of two evidence-informed addiction trainings.

EnCompass is an 8-hour, multidisciplinary training that serves as a resource for family members who are trying to navigate the complex world of addiction and help loved ones achieve recovery. The training includes in-depth information about substance use disorders, treatment options, communication strategies, and self-care tips. It also aims to provide practical content to help individuals understand prevention, early intervention, and treatment of substance use disorders, as well as how to engage someone struggling with addiction and develop an action plan.

In addition to enCompass, Makin’ It Happen also facilitates Responding to Addiction, a 3-hour training that works to increase addiction knowledge and help individuals develop skills and strategies to respond to addiction within their workplace and community. All stakeholders and professionals can benefit from this training. Faith leaders, first responders, employers, business leaders, educators, healthcare professionals, and child and family service workers are a few of the many who would benefit.

Throughout the enCompass training on Monday, attendees participated in insightful conversations about enabling versus helping, “tough love” approaches, engagement strategies, and compassion. We are so grateful to lead these tough, sometimes uncomfortable conversations about addiction and stigma with community members and make a difference in our region!

If you didn’t make it to our training, no worries – we have another training scheduled for October. Check here to find out more information and to register for the next one: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/ev/reg/f3r2nq9/lp/41ed1d7d-eb05-43d1-b5ee-1944f01efa72.
