Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month: Strength in Seeking Help

by | Jun 8, 2026 | Featured, Happening Now, Resiliency Essentials, Spotlight | 0 comments

We’re moving away from the harmful responses to men speaking up about their mental health, such as “man up,” “boys don’t cry,” or “suck it up.” Our communities continue to learn how to recognize warning signs and support those in need through programs such as Mental Health First Aid and QPR Training.

Here are some eye-opening statistics:

80% of suicide deaths are men.

10% of men experience depression or anxiety, yet less than half receive treatment (ADAA).

These numbers highlight the importance of reducing stigma so that more people feel comfortable reaching out for help. Mental health support is becoming increasingly accessible through resources such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, local mental health centers, and online mental health screenings.

Mental health matters. Regardless of your sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or diagnosis, it takes strength to seek help.

This month, check in on a friend, start a conversation, and remember that support is available.
