The mission of YYOUTH Matter is to increase resiliency in our communities’ youth and their families through social-emotional support, academic development, and healthy living initiatives, equipping them to achieve their greatest potential.

The Y understands that the future of our community depends on the success of children. Manchester and Concord both face challenges in supporting youth who are at risk of falling behind academically or disengaging from school. The Granite YMCA is focused on helping address these challenges by working with youth whose lives are complicated by risk factors including poverty, exposure to violence, substance abuse, poor school performance, engagement in risk-taking behaviors, and significant social-emotional difficulties. The YYOUTH Matter programs provide support to students who would otherwise fall through the cracks. Ninety-nine percent of enrolled participants in the Y’s dropout prevention programs live in extremely low- to low-income families. By providing these services, the YMCA is helping ensure that more young people in Manchester, Concord, and surrounding communities have the support they need to stay engaged in school and move successfully toward graduation.
